FROM: Webmaster

SUBJECT: Rainbow trout

Rainbow trout are readily stocked in fisheries nation wide, fine you might think. But in Scottish waters Rainbow Trout are consider to be the spawn of satan, yes some Lochs and rivers do stock them to make up the content of Brown Trout, but in the rivers that dont stock them how do they get there. "they breed", well you might think that but they dont, they cant, Rainbow trout can not breed in cold water. There bodies can not excrete the eggs, so after a while they get infected from the eggs trapped in there bodies. The lucky few (and i really mean few) that manage to get rid of the rotting eggs do survive but will die sometime in the near future, but how do they get into our waters time after time.

FROM: Dave, Wyoming, America.

SUBJECT: RE: Rainbow Trout

I beleive that the trout escape from fish farms around the local area in question or escape from fish farms that attach themselfs to the rivers and lochs to get at the natural water supply.

FROM: Steve, Beaver Creek (dont laugh at the name), Canada.

SUBJECT: RE: Rainbow Trout

They could swim across the ocean on some form of migratory route, but there is one small flaw, the rainbow trout in Canada are large enough, strong enough and fat enough to survive the crossing, but if salmon start to deteriorate when entering freshwater then will the trout start to deteriorate when entering salt water. If so then a Trout (even the fatest one) will surely die on the 3000 mile or so journey.

SUBJECT: Salmon Stocks

I want to know what you think about the critical state of the Salmon population in Scotland, England and Wales. Is the pecautions like "restricted limits" low enough or do you think that there too low. Do you think that we should put into order the "Catch and release" methods for a while, so that salmon stocks have somtime to strengthen in numbers.

FROM: Linda, Wolverhampton, England

SUBJECT: RE: Salmon Stocks

We should do something about it now before it is too late, and the Salmon count goes below the Danger level. Ipropose that we stop all catches and make it a Return to the water law, its quite obviouse that the catch and release is not working as Salmon stocks are still going down because the fisherman who have always returned fish still will and they who dont, wont.

REPLY FROM WEBMASTER:I would be hypocritical saying that i would return a Salmon to the water, because i would not, simply a chance of catching a salmon on the river i fish on is slim. Those of you who are thinking "Danger Level", basically the danger level is where a count is done on a particular species and if it is found to be below a certain level (ie the danger level), then usually they will put a ban of killing and removal form there habitat, in this case it would be Catch and Release by law.

FROM:Derek, Glasgow, Scotland.

SUBJECT: RE: If something is meant to go exstinct just let it, it is the way of nature.

REPLY FROM WEBMASTER: Are you seriously saying that we should let a species of fish die out, it is not the way of nature if we collect salmon in the thousands each year from the rivers and lochs. You are seriously ignorant, if the way you think makes the theory of nature ill come round your house put a bull in your head and say "sorry its nature", what happened to us being a civilized race.

New Topic:Should bait fisherman get a lower price for fishing because there season is shorter.

SUBJECT:No

FROM:John, From Hell

I dont know the state or prices of permits in the uk but if the bait season is a lot shorter then there should be a concession ticket for the fisherman who only bait fishes.

SUBJECT:DESPERATE

FROM:Anonymous

It is true our economic river system is in a desperate position, with salmon stocks failing and more and more money having to be inserted into hatchery plans with little or no result, stoping any more funding of any kind will have disasterous affects.

If you have anything else that you would like to see on this webpage then email them in and ill post them.
